At our Portrait Adventure Retreat, we curate a selection of unique experiences, guaranteed to create epic memories for a lifetime. Explore the wild beauty of Zion National Park, connect and collaborate with your fellow adventure sisters, and indulge in the moments of luxury. Your retreat host and planner, Kate, has been to Zion almost annually since she was 15 years old; she’s taken all of her past experiences in the Zion region and created a retreat itinerary that features the best of Zion.

This area is truly magical and is the perfect setting for transformational inner work around how we show up in the world, and even more specifically, our mindset towards our online presence and our brand photos. This will be an intimate experience with only 5-8 attendees joining Kate in the heart of Utah. A large pillar of the retreat is collaboration – you’ll be in the company of like-minded women, all successful in their own right and seeking friendship and organic opportunities to co-create something amazing.

Retreat Headquarters:

We will be staying in the beautiful Gallery House at LaFave Zion in charming Springdale, Utah. This 3200 sq. ft. home features two kitchens, two living room/gathering spaces, multiple patios to view the red rocks, two washers and dryers, and a variety of sleeping arrangements. You’ll get to choose your room, at various price points, ranging from a private room with a private bath to a private full bed in a shared room, and various options in between. Each attendee will have their own bed, and there’s an option for each person to have their own room, depending on the number of attendees.

What’s Included in the Portrait Adventures Zion Experience:

  • All-inclusive stay – you just need to plan how to get here!

    • Lodging at the beautiful LaFave Zion

    • All meals, drinks, and snacks, including a few “dining excursions” off-property!

    • All excursions, group activities, and luxury experiences (these will be a surprise!). We’ll get to play in stunning Zion National Park and the surrounding area. This is truly one of the most beautiful places in the United States. Spoiler alert: we will be doing some hikes that are rated as “moderately challenging”. One of the excursions will be a choose-your-own-adventure between two hikes, one that is very challenging and one that is moderately challenging. Another excursion involves water but isn’t anticipated to be overly strenuous. We encourage attendees to assess their own level of fitness and know that these group activities are designed to stretch our minds and bodies without causing physical harm.

  • Epic brand photo experiences

    • One-hour solo brand session, with professional hair and makeup, in an amazing outdoor location in Zion National Park

    • Individual and “leader/coach/speaker” photos at the LaFave Zion

    • Candid photos of each attendee throughout the event and during each excursion

  • Retreat sessions lead by Kate

    • We’ll only have 1-2 “sessions” each day, focused around elevating your business’ brand photos and content, and how you show up for yourself and your business. The rest of the time will be luxury and play and community and sacred solo time, all designed with the intention of leaving Utah with a sense of clarity, deeper love of self, and intentional collaborations with your fellow adventurers.

  • $100 photo product credit, good towards any celebratory talisman (canvas print, acrylic print, etc.) through KLEM + Co. to memorialize your time in Utah

  • Edited, unwatermarked images, delivered in an online gallery two weeks after our return from Utah

  • Virtual meet-and-greet happy hour ahead of the retreat to get to know your fellow adventure squad members

  • Post-retreat 1:1 call with Kate for content ideas/support around the images created in Utah

  • Facebook group for the event + website with expert recommendations for lodging, restaurants, activities, etc. for those that want to extend their trip or explore during our “open times” at the retreat.

  • A donation to the Zion Forever Project, a local nonprofit created to protect the Zion Regional Landscape

Sunday, April 7th, 2024

  • Plan to arrive in Springdale, Utah on Sunday, April 7th by 6pm Mountain Standard Time. You’ll be able to “check-in” with us at the LaFave as soon as you arrive. Note: if you fly into Las Vegas, know that Nevada is a different time zone than Utah!

  • 6:00pm – Heavy appetizers and drinks at LaFave, followed by a welcome ceremony

Monday, April 8th, 2024 through Thursday, April 11th, 2024

Daily activities could include:

  • Grab-and-go breakfast

  • Morning excursion/activity outdoors

  • Chef-prepared lunch or off-property lunch

  • Retreat session (typically 1.5-2 hours), candid photos, group photos

  • Open time to choose your own adventure

  • Collaboration opportunities

  • Happy hour and chef-prepared dinner or off-property dinner

Friday, April 12th, 2024

Activities could include:

  • Grab-and-go breakfast set out

  • Brand photo day! All individual sessions will take place. Hair and makeup prep will be provided at LaFave.

  • Celebratory off-site dinner

  • Closing ceremony – you won’t want to miss this!

Saturday, April 13th, 2024

Departure day – Please plan to stay through Friday evening as the Closing Ceremony is incredibly impactful. Check-out is 11am Mountain Standard Time.

Common Questions:

  • “How do I get to Springdale, Utah? Will I need a rental car?”

    • The closest major airport is Harry Reid International in Las Vegas, NV, which is about three hours from Springdale. Another option is Salt Lake City International Airport, which is roughly four and a half hours from Springdale. St George Shuttle offers one-way shuttles from Harry Reid International to Springdale, Utah (not to be confused with Springville, Utah). For more info, check out their website or call 800-933-8320. You can certainly rent a car if you’d like; once you arrive in Springdale, we will have rental cars we will drive to transport the group for excursions and such.

  • “What do I wear??”

    • We’ll be sending a suggested packing list to you a few weeks before the retreat! You’ll want a mix of comfortable loungewear, outdoor/activewear, and curated outfits for the photo sessions and dining excursions. For the Closing Ceremony, you’ll want to wear something that makes you feel like an absolute goddess/your Highest Self. For the photo sessions, be sure to iron/steam your items ahead of your session so you love how they look. It’s super important to wear pieces you LOVE on yourself, rather than wearing what you think is “trendy” or should look good. For more inspiration, check out our Pinterest board.

  • “What will the weather be like"?”

    • The weather in Springdale in April is typically quite pleasant – we can expect an average high of 75° with evening temperatures sometimes dipping into the low 40s. In 2023, daily highs for our retreat dates ranged from 70-90°, and evening lows ranged from 43-61°. Springdale won’t be humid during this time.

  • “Do I get the edited images?”

    • Yes! You have edited, unwatermarked images included in your package. The images will be high resolution, so you can use them on social media, websites, printed materials, etc. All images will be edited in our true-to-life editing style. If you have a preset you like to use for your brand, you have the option of receiving the culled, raw, unedited images from your session so that you or your team may edit the photos with your brand’s preset. Please let us know if this will be your preference.

  • “What happens if it rains/snows?”

    • Rain showers can pop up at any time, although they usually pass quickly! If the forecast is showing rain, we may rearrange the order of our daily itinerary to try to avoid the rain. If the rain seems unavoidable, we’ll aim to spend more of our time at our indoor locations. We’ll have clear umbrellas on hand for the photo sessions, and we encourage embracing the weather (as long as it is safe to do so) and playing in the rain – this is a photo adventure, after all!

    • Snow is possible at higher elevations in Springdale/Zion, although it typically doesn’t accumulate too much. We will give clothing recommendations in the packing list we send ahead of time!

  • "“What props should I bring"?”

    • The sky’s the limit (although your carry-on bag might say otherwise…)! Click here to see our list of props we think are super fun to include in brand photo sessions.
